FlipBlog – Free Genesis Child Theme for WordPress

FlipBlog

FlipBlog is a free WordPress child theme that runs under Genesis Theme Framework by studiopress.

“FlipBlog” is a free black and white genesis child theme for wordpress especially designed for bloggers. The code is fairly easy to understand and the design can be easily modified to best suit your needs. This theme is designed to run under Genesis Framework by Studiopress. This theme and WordPress is free to use and modify, however, you would need to purchase The Genesis Framework for it to work. So why did I create a theme for a framework that costs something when I could have just created it under WordPress, which is free? Because I believe that Genesis is a very powerful framework and it makes your WordPress experience a lot easier than it already is and the price is well worth it.

Alas, I ran into an issue.

When I hit home, I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function dynamic_content_gallery() in /home/robertp/public_html/wp3sandbox/wp-content/themes/flipblog1.0/home.php on line 9

I’ve tinkered with the Genesis Featured widget, per the comments in home.php — no change.

Latest version of Genesis, with absolutely no tweaks.

    Can you advise?

    tnks!

    Hey Robert,

Thanks for downloading the theme, do you mind giving me the link, so I can inspect?

    Thanks,

Are you using Dynamic content gallery plugin (found here:http://www.studiograsshopper.ch/wordpress-plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-v3-2-3-released/)? If not you might have to remove lines 8-10 in home.php. Sorry, that’s my bad I should think of a way to remove that if plugin doesn’t exist.

    Tnks, MJB!

No, I’m not. But I’m going to take it for a spin and see. Will report soon.

NP Robert, Please let me know if there’s any other issue you find. Thanks for reporting this one to me.

    MJB–

Got it. No more of those errors! I just set it up with the defaults and w/o any imaged posts, so the plugin gives an error, which will obviously go away when I get it setup right.

Key thing: no more php errors, page loads right, widget areas appear.

Appreciate the fast turnaround and support!

Suggestion: if it bit me, and I’ve been a theme developer for awhile, it could bite a newbie. Perhaps call attention to it in as many ways as possible (here, inside the file, maybe even a Tweet) — could save you a lot of clutter here!

Thanks a lot for the advice. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future themes. As for this one, I think I’ll just put a function on that line to open it up only if function exists. I have a pretty good idea how to do it. Thanks again
